Register an Artwork

Welcome! We’re looking forward to seeing your artwork add to the magic of Tankwa Town.

If you register your artwork, we’re able to allocate a spot for your piece (and the info will be listed in our event guide, and app). If you haven’t registered by the cutoff date, no problem – you can still register your artwork on site with our Art Wranglers at the Arteria at Off-Centre Camp. They’ll assist with placement and get your details.

If you’re considering applying for a Creative Grant, just be aware that no grant application can be considered unless the artwork has also been registered.

It’s not rocket surgery, but here are some helpful guidelines:

  1. Gather all the information required for your proposed piece.
  2. Fill in all fields (if a field’s left blank, the form won’t submit properly)
  3. Attach all relevant images and information (less than 1MB each) where required – and mail additional files to art@afrikaburn.com (with the title of your piece in the subject line).
  4. CHECK YOUR MAILBOX AFTER SUBMITTING YOUR FORM. If you haven’t received a copy of your registration form, chances are you left a field incomplete and so your form didn’t submit (and you’ll need to do it again).
  5. Be sure to CHECK YOUR EMAIL regularly in the next few weeks. If we’ve got questions or suggestions, we’ll mail them through – please respond quickly.

  1. Proposals need to be complete – because incomplete proposals can’t be considered for a Creative Grant.
  2. A minimum of one concept image is required. Please keep all file attachments under 1MB. We accept jpg, gif and tiff files
  3. Accepted file formats for other documents are pdf, Word and Excel.
  4. If you’re applying for significant funding for a large-scale sculptural or architectural artwork, we’ll need to see a 3D model. This may be a macquette (or digital image of it) or a 3D digital rendering (e.g. in SketchUp). Please email it through to art@afrikaburn.com with the title of your project in the subject line. Or contact us to set up a time to deliver it to our HQ. While a 3D model’s not a requirement for medium and small-scale projects, it’s encouraged.

We’ve enabled a feature that will allow you to edit your application, once submitted. If you would like to edit a previously submitted artwork registration, please click on this link.

Before filling in this form, we suggest that you:

  1. Read all the supporting documentation
  2. Read through all the questions
  3. Draft your responses in an offline document like word.
  4. Circulate your answers with your team to make sure that they concur.
  5. Re-Read, Re-think and Re-check with your team
  6. Edit the responses in your offline document

After you’ve done this, copy and paste your responses onto this online form. This way your thought through responses will be safe from any technical problem, internet breakdown, load shedding episode, and you can always refer back to it if needed.

If you don’t receive any feedback from us within a week (max!) of submitting your form, please follow up. Write an email to art@afrikaburn.com and check if we have your registration. Don’t forget to use the Title of your Artwork in the subject of the email.

Good luck, good and creative people

Thank you, AfrikaBurn could not happen without you!
